Do you know that everyday we inhale /breath in Carbon Monoxide. Carbon Monoxide is Colourless, Odourless and Tasteless Toxic Gas.Being exposed to carbon monoxide leads to a variety of symptoms that include headache, nausea, weakness, exhaustion, dizziness, confusion and angina. And Did You know that a Spider Plant have the ability to absorb this Toxic Gas. Spider plant It is known to have high levels of beta-carotene and vitamin C, calcium, protein, magnesium and powerful anti-oxidants, and that is why this is my 4th Spider Plant and i bought this gorgeous specially for the Kittens. My two young adult cats love to nibble on Spider plants, they even ransacked the one in my bedroom on my bed. When a the kitties wants what they want they get it no matter what. Picture left below is after i cleaned all the plants that fell. This is the worse one, and the last straw. Many times i wanted to send for adoption, but little did i know, as much benefit plants to us, cats to need the plants benefit.

BUT even tho Spider Plant is safe for Cats and children, Spider Plant Contain Opium, While considered non toxic, these compounds can still result in an upset stomach, vomiting and diarrheas. so-called hallucinogenic properties found in Spider Plant like a Cat Nip, Cats may get high after. :D,

Nevertheless, not all cat react the same, thats why non of my eldest cat nibbled on my plants, accept the young adult.

The best way to let your cat off your plant is grow an indoor grass. Placed your Spider Plant high up and no furniture around for them to climb up. but again this two particular wont stop harassing My Spider Plant. Until i allowed them to. (buy one for them to play with) Plus Cats are natures beings, its natural of them to roam especially when you have an urban jungle in your little home like mine.

Third day today and the"rugrats" didn't even bother to ransacked other plants. now that they have their own little opium plant on their cozy corner. If you stayed in an apartment with pets, wanting to adopt this new hobby, make sure to get your fury friend a grass to nibble on.

High in vitamins and micronutrients, spider plant contributes to a healthy diet for many rural Africans with limited food budgets. It is known to have high levels of beta-carotene and vitamin C, calcium, protein, magnesium and powerful anti-oxidants. But Would You dare to eat it as 'Ulam' now that you know this? haha.

My Spider Plant Care tips.

I have my share tips on my indoor plants, and the ups and down in caring for indoor plant as your Microclimate

house changes when our Kpistiwa( Equator) weather changes from sunny draft to rainy cold season. I did mention i have 4 Spider plant, but did i mention i have one curly huge big spider plant that died. Sadly it show brown tip right instant when i bought home and slowly dying like i overwatered him, which i didn't. tried to save them, but they die eventually.

If you google Spider Plant care tips, they will list that spider plant doesn't grow well in an Ac room or cold draft surround. Take note, the author share on her/his behalf where she or he lived. NOT Malaysia.

In Malaysia we have different climate than theirs, we have more moist in the air, we have enough Humid most of our country. (outdoor). Its the question of enough light, not directly under our scorching hot sun under a good bushy trees most of the plants will do just fine.

Indoor : Spider Plant survive any given room with a good light, These tough plants tolerate lots of abuse, making them excellent candidates for newbie gardeners or those without a green thumb.

Provide them with well-drained soil and bright, indirect light and they will flourish.

Water them well but do not allow the plants to become too soggy, which can lead to root rot. In fact, spider plants prefer to dry out some between waterings.

When caring for spider plants, also take into account that they enjoy cooler temperatures — around 55 to 65 F. (13-18 C.). Thats why if you noticed some Private Hospitals they have spider plant in each room it help the healing process. And my Spider Plants is Mainly in My bedroom, Air Condition room literally under the AC.

Spider plants can also benefit from occasional pruning, cutting them back to the base. Since spider plants prefer a semi-potbound environment, repot them only when their large, fleshy roots are highly visible and watering is difficult. Spider plants can be easily propagated as well through division of the mother plant or by planting the small spiderettes.

Spider Plant Leaves Browning

If you begin to notice spider plant leaves browning, there’s no need for worry.

Browning of leaf tips is quite normal and will not harm the plant. This is often the result of fluoride found in water, which causes salt buildup in the soil.

What i do is cut the browning tips and take out the effected leaves. It usually helps to periodically leach plants by giving them a thorough watering to flush out excess salts.

Be sure to allow the water to drain out and repeat as needed. It may also help to use distilled water or even rainwater on plants instead of that from the kitchen or outside spigot.

I water my plants after i let filtered water sit in a big tub for 24 hours (how filtered it still contain chlorine & fluoride) or i just water them with our drinking water (osmosis water Coway) so far plants looks ok and thrive quickly than before.

If the tips of the spider plant begin to brown, I would back off the amount of fertilizer by ½ of the manufacturer’s recommended amount.

Remember that brown tips may also be caused by chemical laden water, drought stress, drafts, or temperature fluxes.

A little experimentation might be in order to get your plant back in tip-top shape, but these plants are known for rebounding and will almost certainly be in the flush of health with a little TLC.

So for first timer (plant parent to be) or wanting to visit your sick friends, get a Spider Plant. It will only cost you below RM20 (+ if you change its pot)
